Florida Atlantic Football added an offensive lineman to their 2026 class on Sunday afternoon. West Broward High School OL and 3 star recruit (Rivals) Alejandro Schmitt announced he would be beginning his collegiate career in paradise.
The 6 ‘6 305 pound Pembroke Pines native has played 3 varsity seasons at WBHS, starting as a DT/DE in 2022-2023 before transitioning to tackle 2023-2024.
This past season Schmitt assumed the starting left tackle role and was dominant, helping WBHS finish 9-4 overall and first in their district.
With a D1 size and success at the High School level, the offers began to rack up for Schmitt receiving 9 total offers so far including Florida, Pitt and WVU, however after an official visit this past weekend, he opted to commit to FAU.
According to Schmitt, the ultimate reason he committed to paradise was the respect he saw that people around the program had for one another.
“I would say the people on the coaching staff, as well as the team, stood out to me with how everyone is family and has real respect for one another,” Schmitt said.

Schmitt will head into his senior season this upcoming fall following a junior year where he was able to record multiple pancake blocks and establish himself as one of the more dominant lineman in his district.
Last year was a successful junior season for Schmitt, as not only did he earn a starting role, but WBHS was able to finish 1st in their district and Schmitt believes his squad has a chance to pursue a state title, something he is looking forward to heading into his final season of High School ball.
“This year being my last I really wanna have a state winning team, as personally I feel like I really have a lot of people to prove wrong and I wanna have a breakout season like no other,” Schmitt said.

Schmitt has a chance to become an anchor on the Owls offensive line and has the size to potentially make an impact right away as a freshman.
The opportunity to compete in paradise is something Schmitt won’t take for granted, noting that FAU will give him a chance to be around like minded people.
“I can’t wait to get work in with a college team and be surrounded by people who are dedicated to the sport like I am,” Schmitt said.
It was a busy weekend in paradise as Schmitt joined Owen Pollock, Jeremiah Daoud, Eric Parks and Tyson Stroud as 5 commits who all committed to FAU’s 2026 class on Sunday.
