The future of the Florida Atlantic Football defensive line got stronger this past weekend as the Owls landed another class of 2026 commit. Former Somerset Canyons and current Atlantic High Defensive Lineman Jvon Hatcher announced he would be beginning his collegiate career at FAU
The 6 ‘4 260 pound Boynton Beach Florida Native spent the first 3 seasons of his High School career at Somerset Canyons, where this past season, his junior year, he recorded 26 tackles, 8 for loss, as well as 6 sacks.
The success Hatcher had this past season not only garnered him attention at the Highschool level, but also at the college level as he had offers from Memphis, Wake Forest and Western Kentucky among others, but after a visit to Boca Raton he opted to commit to FAU.

According to Hatcher, once he began his visit alongside DL Coach Devin Santana he began to feel an instant connection with the program.
“When they first picked me up going to breakfast, I could just tell the day was gonna be good. Based off what they were saying and how my family was reacting to it, it is still like home and throughout the whole visit it felt like they were talking like family, not like a coach talking to a parent, like everything was going real smooth, there was great communication throughout the whole visit,” Hatcher said.

At 6 ‘4 260 and only a rising senior, Hatcher brings a boatload of potential growth to FAU and with a strong senior season, he could have the ability to earn playing time right away as a freshman in 2026.
Playing time is important to anyone, but for Hatcher everything that goes into Football from an off the field perspective is something that he values equally.
“I definitely like doing the little things right, especially in the weight room, or just even off the field. With workouts, we really don’t work out and play around. I take those things seriously, because those are things I didn’t take seriously my first year, and I wish I could. I’m trying to give them (underclassmen) advice the best way I can,” Hatcher said.

The work that Hatcher has put in off the field led to a dominating junior season at Somerset Canyons and put him in a position to showcase his skills at one of the most prominent programs in the Tri county area in Atlantic High.
While Hatcher looks to lead Atlantic to a State Title in his upcoming Senior season, when looking ahead towards college the thing he looks forward to the most outside of stepping on the field is seeing what a D1 workout will be like.
“My first thing I always thought about when I get to college is the workouts. I want to see what the workouts are like. I think after that my first game experience, but obviously I think everyone looks forward to doing that,” Hatcher said.

Hatcher becomes another recruit out of the Tri-County area for Coach Kittley and he will look to be a hometown hero as a part of the class of 2026.
