Owl Notables
Florida Atlantic lost its top six scorers but has largely reloaded via the transfer portal including guards Isaiah Elohim from USC and Kanaan Carlyle from Indiana, and incoming freshman 6-7 freshman forward Josiah Parker who earned Preseason AAC Freshman of the Year honors and is regarded as the highest rated recruit in the program’s history.
An immediate challenge for FAU will be cleaning up on the defensive end, where they ranked 281st in the nation last season and struggled from three-point range at 35.2%.
Opening the season at home against a Power conference opponent will definitely provide an immediate measuring stick, and the Owls are hopeful that gains from roster turnover will be a factor early on.
FAU is coming off a blow-out 110-68 exhibition win over Florida Tech last Thursday which saw a coming out party for return guard Devin Vanterpool, who notched a team high 24 points on 9-of-13 shooting.
The Owls could be without Oregon State transfer Maxim Logue, who is listed as questionable for the contest.
BC at a Glance

Defense – 71 PPGA, 38% FGA, 24% 3PTA

Eagles Notables
Head Coach Earl Grant enters his 5th season with the program. The Eagles are looking to rebound form a 12-19 mark overall in 2024-25 with a 4-16 showing in ACC play which saw them conclude near the bottom of the league.
Accordingly, the Eagles are entering the season looking to rebuild momentum and stability.
For BC this road trip to FAU is a tough opener but also a chance to make a statement.
Key returners and additions for BC include leading scorer and rebounder Donald Hand Jr. returns (15.7 ppg, 6.1 rpg) and 6-9 Missouri transfer Aidan Shaw. The team also added veteran South Dakota transfer point Chase.
With the Owls employing a new roster BC may lean on transition opportunities while also keeping the pace slow while attempting to execute methodically.
Final Thoughts
Both teams will be trying to iron out kinks, but opening the season at home should favor FAU. However, the Eagles experienced players may help them steady the ship.
Keys for the Owls include the ability to defend the three while controlling the pace of play. They will have to be more aggressive around the rim, particularly on lose balls.
BC is a program in rebuild mode, but capable of pulling an upset if they are more consistent in shooting and continue rebounding like they did against the Huskies.
